I’ve been active as an actor, director, teacher, and organizer for many years:

• Since 2010: Theater DU (German Theatre Toronto) emerged from a German theatre course at the University of Toronto. Over the years, we have staged productions ranging from Dürrenmatt and Büchner to Dracula - and a few creations of our own:

  • 2026:Zwischen zwei Ufern – Szenen einer deutsch-kanadischen Begegnung, an original dramatic reading by Erol Boran, created for the 75th anniversary of German-Canadian diplomatic relations (presently in preparation)

  • 2022: Der Struwwel, from Heinrich Hoffmann’s famously gruesome children’s book

  • 2019: Der Komet, based on a pre-apocalyptic farce by August Wilhelm Iffland

  • 2016: Woyzeck, based on Georg Büchner’s famous fragment

  • 2016: Deutsch vom Fass – An Educational Journey in Nine Scenes, an original play by Erol Boran, created for the 150th anniversary of the University of Toronto’s Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures

  • 2015: Hochwasser III, based on an absurdist play by Günter Grass

  • 2012: Drakul(j)a, Erol Boran’s adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula

• 2012: I played the lead role in the short film Der Kandidat (dir. Josef Baraki, Humber Productions, 15 min.).

• 2005-2006: I worked as an actor at the Jewish Theater of Thessaloniki.

• 1998-2004: I taught courses and directed theatre productions at several universities in the United States, including UT Austin and OSU, as well as in Taos, New Mexico.

• 1996-1999: I directed productions with two theatre groups I founded in Würzburg: the English-language troupe Characters in Company (CiC) and the German comedy group Kurzform.

• 1993-1996: I performed with Unigeziefer and the English Drama Group at the University of Würzburg, Germany.
